Hi there,

a nice series of videos is available on Youtube to learn templating basics (a theme is built from scratch)

(Is there a better place to post learning resources BTW?)

You can request this post be turned into a wiki and then just keep editing and adding new content as you find it (so perhaps with this approach, embedding will not be preferable).
