Creating Hugo Themes - Documentation?

Hi there,

I’m completely new to Hugo at the moment and while I can find a lot of material on working with Hugo if you are using a pre-made theme, I’m struggling to find any complete documentation or tutorials on creating your own themes from scratch. I’ve just been piecing bits and pieces together from various blog posts etc so far.

Given the number of themes available for Hugo, I’m assuming there are good references out there, but perhaps I’m just not looking in the right places.

Any useful material, resources, documentation or tutorials you can point me to would be amazingly helpful.
