Last year the website https://themes.gohugo.io used to include demos for most of the themes, but today there are no demos, only a Download
link. Is this the result a new policy, and will the demos return?
Thanks,
Dominick
Some years back the theme site built demo sites out of the “exampleSite” included in the theme. This was error prone so replaced with a “demosite” parameter allowing themes to link to a demonstration site.
In my theme I have:
demosite = "https://zen-demo.xdeb.org/"
Since some time “demosite” no longer render on the theme site. Not sure why. It could be an unintentional bug or there was some issues with it.
Thanks for the pointer. Your theme is easy to install and the docs are helpful.
It was a lot of work to keep 500 example sites up and running, to put it mildly. I left it out when I rewrote the build scripts some time ago.
Fully understand that building all the sites was a mess.
Was there also an issue with rendering the “demosite” parameter?
demosite = "https://zen-demo.xdeb.org/"
That is just an external link, just like the “homepage” parameter.
Yea, right, I saw lots of themes linking to “something else” (typically a online theme shop) and not a demo, so I got a little cranky (this is not a free ad banner page) so, I hid that button.
But I guess it’s unfair to let the few abusers dictate the behavior, so I have enabled that button now, will be live in a minute.
