Show outdated (not missing) i18n strings

My website makes heavy use of translations. All pages are available in 18 languages, and so are the i18n strings.

For the regular pages I’ve found a way to display whether a translation is outdated against the EN original.

Is there some similar possibility for the i18n strings? I know the `–i18n-warnings´ flag but it only displays missing translations. Is there some way to highlight i18n files which are behind the EN original, or even the individual strings? That would help dynamic websites to improve strings and alert if this breaks some existing translations.

I want to setup a workflow to maintain translations. Please think of a translated website with a canonical language and dependent translations. When a file in the canonical language is changed I would like to update the translations ASAP. Currently my idea is to use git to track changes in the canonical files as git diff --name-only returns the changed files between two commits. This would imply that I tag my translations to have a point of reference. I am not sure whether this is a good idea. …
