Pointer for Home Page Slideshow setup

Currently running Hugo with Blowfish as the theme. What I am trying to work out (I am still learning) is how can I create a Home Page that displays a slide show of images taking up the whole content area, preserving the menu and footer?

Can anyone point me in the direction to go for this (I assume it isn’t something simple) ?

Mmh. Maybe start with the one the theme provides and see if that fits.
