Is there a restriction on what kind of shortcodes can be added?

  1. I find myself using giphy in my blog posts, following the trend (I see a lot of them on dev.to).

  2. Another shortcode I use quite often is blockquote, where I reference piece of text from other sources.

I believe this proposal will fulfil these point from contribution guidelines.

  • be useful to many.
  • fit naturally into what Hugo does best.

A clear way forward is to create a theme component with your shortcodes. If it makes sense folks will discuss moving them into the core internal shortcode collection. :sunglasses:
