Hugo Docker/CI Image 2025 Feedback

Hey folks!

I maintain a Docker image for Hugo intended for CI use cases. It’s the one circled in the screenshot below, in case you’re curious. If my git commits are to be believed, I’ve been maintaining it for almost 8 years now. Every couple of years, I give it some larger updates to keep things fresh. It’s that time again.

If you use this Docker image, I would appreciate some feedback. Answers to 1 or more of the following questions would be helpful:

  • What CI platform do you use it with?
  • Is the image missing anything?
  • Are you happy with the Docker Hub registry or should I publish it to GitHub Packages?
  • Are you using the bundled HTML Proofer tool?

Any other feedback is appreciated as well.

P.S. Since I haven't mentioned it in a while, I want to share a big thank you to the maintainers for constantly giving their time to keep Hugo going.

thanks for your efforts

It’s a labor of love, for sure…

it might be advantageous to have a gitlab + gitlabci => gitlab container registry exemplar for peeps to use for those that aren’t big github fans, and to help inform the community at large of patterns that seem to work well… but IDK how much the juice is worth the squeeze there…
