I’m unable to download the most recent version since it displays a warning: hugo 0.95.0 already installed
what I can do to fix this?

The update command doesn’t do what you think it does.

I run brew upgrade hugo the Running brew update --preinstall … is what follows when brew is upgrading a package it always start like this then it downloads the files etc.
For some reason home-brew cannot detect the newer version. Maybe it is a home-brew issue!

brew doctor flush dns cache etc fixed the issue?
