Trying to upload site to netlify, "build.command failed"

I am trying to upload my site to netlify and I get the error “build.command failed”.

I am using hugo as build command and have followed the information on:

Host on Netlify

However, the information is terrible and only vaguely says that the build command should be hugo. Am I missing something here?
