Override Site Description with Page Description

Hi! I cannot seem to override the site description with individual page descriptions. I am using the Academic theme. The site description is defined under params.toml. For the individual pages, it would look something like

title = "My Title"
subtitle = "Here's the Subtitle"
description = "And here's the page description that I want to see when I share this page instead of the general site description"
+++

This is my current setup; however, when I share the individual page via Facebook or Twitter, I still see the general site description, which does not really capture what the page being shared is all about.

The Academic theme has a dedicated issue queue and community chat. :slight_smile:
