OT: Custom Name Domain - Quick question

Hello everyone,

I was reading though previous discussions but I could not find exactly what I am looking for, so I would really appreciate your help.

I recently built my academic static site using Hugo and github pages. I set up 2 separate repos on my github account, one for regular version control, the other to host the website. Since I used the tutorial on Hugo and github pages my current domain name is .github.io.

It was an awesome experience but I noticed that the site is not actually visible on the search, and this is because I did not customize the domain name. I know it is not free, and there are several options, but my question is:

Being at this point, with my site ready and deployed using github pages, is it possible to change the domain name (e.g. to a .com) but still maintaining the current repo structure?
Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you,

Fra

Hello,

The question is not on topic in this forum.
We do not provide support for setting up custom domains here.

With that said, have a look at: Configuring a custom domain for your GitHub Pages site - GitHub Docs
