My hugo site appears normally if I use the http address but the style is completely broken if I open with the https address.
I’m new to web hosting so maybe it’s a mistake in my config, please let me know. If it’s relevant, I can see that I have ssl enabled, I think this is the default config with my provider (ovh).

Might be the config, but it’s hard to tell without at least seeing the site (or, preferrably, your source for it).
What’s your baseURL in the configuration file? Make sure it is the same (including the https protocol) as your main site.
Great advice! that was exactly it: I had the wrong http instead of https in the config file.
