Feature Request: Option for adding whitespace around an image

I am opening this topic to request an Image Processing option for adding whitespace around an image similar to the imageMagick flags -extent and -gravity see: http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/crop/#extent

This would be a useful feature to have for use from within Hugo along with the other Image Processing Options.

From what I’ve seen there is a Go binding for imageMagick at: https://github.com/gographics/imagick (but I’m not sure if it would be wise to use it).

I’m not aware of another Go implementation that would make this request possible.

I have decided to open the following GitHub issue hoping that perhaps someone might look into this.

This issue has been a sore point for me then and again as I have to generate the thumbnails outside Hugo but that is just not practical at all.

If anyone feels like participating in this discussion they can do so at the GitHub issue.
