Is it possible to create a gallery with images that will link to a separate page that contains the relevant image?

The theme I created for https://kaiser.gallery does explicitly not create separate pages for each image, since I do not want Hugo to create 7000 pages with only the image on it (and rather use Albums as smallest unit).
I’m not sure if this is possible with Hugo to create pages per ressource (image)…
