We’re reaching out today with an important update regarding the Hugo theme Ananke that we’ve had the privilege of maintaining for some time now.
@budparr and I have loved working on this project, and it’s been amazing seeing it grow and be used by so many of you. However, due to changing priorities and time constraints, we’re no longer able to give it the attention it deserves.
Rather than let the theme stagnate, we’re hoping to pass the torch to new maintainers who are as passionate about Hugo and open-source contributions as we are. We believe that, in the right hands, this theme can continue to thrive and evolve with the needs of the community.
If you’re interested in stepping up to help maintain or evolve the theme, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re an experienced developer or just passionate about design and coding, we welcome anyone who shares our enthusiasm for this project. We’re happy to assist with any initial handover or answer any questions to help get you started.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the theme and contributed along the way. We’re excited to see where new leadership can take it!
I’ve really appreciated all the work you and @budparr have done with Ananke — it’s been a fantastic theme and a great resource. I’m actually quite interested in stepping up to help maintain it.
I’ve built multiple themes myself and have a strong passion for both design and coding. I’d love the opportunity to continue evolving Ananke and keep it going strong for the community. If you could provide some details on how the handover process works or what you need from me to get started, I’d be happy to jump in and help out!
Thanks again for all your hard work and for considering me for this role!
Just send me a PM and we can discuss this further. I have created (and maintain) https://www.hugobricks.preview.usecue.com/. What is your vision for Ananke? Should it be a multi-purpose minimalistic theme you can restyle? Or should it be a ready-to-use blogging engine? Both still need some help IMHO.
I’m happy to announce that we’ve found a new maintainer for Ananke! Please join me in welcoming @davidsneighbour as the new lead. He will brings a lot of enthusiasm and expertise, and we’re confident the theme is in great hands moving forward.
If you’re interested in contributing or have any questions about the theme, feel free to reach out to Patrick (@davidsneighbour) directly. I’m sure he would appreciate any support from the community.
Thanks again to everyone who’s supported the theme, and here’s to its continued growth!
