Anyone else getting the same error?

Try 0.54.0

You should indicate the correct version Numbers, with a trailing 0: 0.54.0, as Hugo uses now a complete semantic version numbers for main releases.

Martignoni is correct. I was following a popular Rstudio/Hugo guide and the version in the instructions were understandably behind. The new trailing zero made the difference in my install.
