Worfklow to us Image Processing for Posts?

I may be confused about the documentation, but it seems that the image processing features are more for assets/themes (this would be my primary confusion).

I’d like to be able to use image processing in all of my posts that I use images so that I can keep the original media in my source control and resize upon site build.

So, is there a way to use the {{ figure }} shortcode, but with hugo doing some image processing on site build?

I didn’t realize that it was accomplished through use of shortcodes, with the example being on the image processing page. Sorry, closing request.
