Unable to locate config file or config directory

I’ve encountered a problem this month where I get the following error - Unable to locate config file or config directory. This is when I create a new .md or hugo server -D from the command line terminal.

I haven’t changed anything in terms of my site setup, the config.toml is there and hasn’t been modified for 2 months so scratching my head as to how this error has suddenly popped up

Are you issuing the hugo command from the root of your project directory?
