When I test my site using the Hugo server it loads OK, but once it is deployed it to my server it loads very slowly. My sight based on Hugo’s creative template with just a few customizations, so it is very small and simple single page. I am sure that I have done something stupid and would would appreciate any tips on where to start looking.
Can you provide a link to your site?
thanks very much

4.74 MB in FileSize.
4256 px X 2832 px in Physical Size.

If you’re on Mac you can also use ImageOptim to optimize images. You might also consider making the background monochrome to reduce the number of colors and side.
Generally speaking, you might want to look into some
.htaccess optimizations, if you’re hosting on apache. This is mine, highlighted at the area that might help you:

Your site headers show your site is hosted on apache, so the compression tricks in
.htaccess may work.
