Hey @pointyfar - I had changed index.md to _index.md but changed it back because it did not seem to work. Now that I changed the index.html inside the theme to reference {{ .Content }} it does seem to work. w00t!
Thanks so much for all your help everyone. If this goes the other way again, I will post an update here. For now though, this seems to work o/\o
