@bep Looks great!
It looks like most of Move partials and shortcodes out of layouts · Issue #13476 · gohugoio/hugo · GitHub is still unaddressed. Is there more to come along those lines that you have planned, or should I create a new issue now for the remaining ideas?
I have seen 4-5 issues reported.
Remember this, with a software API with many users over a decade, all variations you could think of and then many more will be used in the wild. I have wanted to rework/rewrite how we handle templates in Hugo, but fear of “breaking things” was the main reason it took so long. I replaced 5000 lines of Go with 5000 lines of Go, a big part of that was “legacy mapping”, making sure that most of existing Hugo sites would run fine after the upgrade.
In that context, 4-5 issues is not “more than expected”.
