Funny that this thread is revived just about as I am done adding (finally) search to my site. I just posted about that here:

First of all, a big shoutout to Eddie Webb for documenting this flow really well, and being receptive to suggestions. tl;dr: I (someone who doesn’t know JS at all) followed the instructions on his gist, and now this works!
