Custom 404 - change title

I came across this post, 404 - Change title?, and wanted to see if there’s another way to change the title for a 404 page since the last comment was posted in 2017.

I’ve tried creating a 404 markdown file in my content folder, but that does not change the title for the 404.html file in layouts.

To enter custom meta meant for the 404 page one needs to create a dedicated template under /layouts/404.html
