Current recommended template indentation

Before updating to the latest Hugo version (0.169.0 from 0.160.0) on CI/CD, I compared locally the build results between the two just to make sure: everything was exactly the same, except surprisingly I got mixed indentation for the new one. Works but a bit untidy/inconsistent.

Since PR 14908 the embedded templates use TAB instead of two spaces for indentation, as gotmplfmt “uses tabs and not spaces for indentation”.
I suppose most themes out there rely on some of the embedded templates in a way or another.
The official Hugo documentation still recommends to “indent with two spaces” in its contribution guidelines.

What’s the current recommended indentation strategy for custom templates?
TAB for Go HTML templates (despite potential inline JS), two spaces for pretty much everything else?
TIA, have a good one!

That is a style guide for people writing Hugo documentation, not a coding standard recommendation for Hugo projects.
