Sorry for my delays. Hugo 0.55.6 is now in Debian: https://packages.debian.org/sid/hugo

… and finally on Ubuntu too:

https://packages.ubuntu.com/eoan/hugo

not in the recently released “disco” (19.04) (stuck at 0.52-1 due to old version of Go) but in the future release “eoan”, now that Ubuntu has moved to golang-1.11 and a small build test error with viper resolved.
