I admit, I don’t really know what is fast or slow, I just know that I don’t need instant changes to my site, so I fire and forget, and use a CI runner to do the heavy lifting.
The runner is a VPS with the following:
RAM 1GB
VCPUs 1 VCPU
Disk 80GB
However, I am primarily the only one using it, and I don’t think it has ever needed to queue jobs. I believe everything is SSD, as well.

MacBook Pro, 2.8GHz Core i5, 16GB RAM, SSD. Building the blog on a small Amazon virtual takes about twice as long.
