# \[SOLVED\] Way to trim summaryLength even further?

I’m using the very handy `summaryLength` to keep my auto-generated summaries below about 67 characters (the limit for previewing content in Twitter & Google+).

Now, I’d like to trim it even further, so that I can list even shorter summaries in the [“latest status” partial](https://github.com/growdigital/indiego/blob/master/layouts/partials/aside.html#L12).

I’ve tried using [strings.TrimRight](https://gohugo.io/functions/strings.trimright/) but I’m not sure if it’s the right tool for the job (ie I can’t get it to work!) bogus code:

```auto
{{ strings.TrimRight .Summary "4" }}

```

Any advice gratefully received 🙂

or

`{{ substr (.Summary | markdownify) 0 13 }}`
