# Relref now wants {{% %}} instead of {{\< ... \>}} ... ?!

Hi all, I just tried to re-compile my page with the newest hugo version (v0.136.4+extended), and I get tons of those errors: `Invalid markdown link destination, use '{{% %}}' syntax when using shortcodes as input`.

Turns out, that error is created from every `{{< relref "page-name" >}}` I use. I can make it “go away” by actually changing that to `{{% relref "page-name" %}}` – but I could not find _any_ announcement for that change, and the docs are still the same.

Can somebody tell me what’s happening, maybe? I’m a bit confused.

That error message is generated by your theme, maybe within a link render hook.
