More and more "private" discourse topics

The last weeks I recognized more and more “private topics” with restricted access (if I observed it right by (new) users with a private profile).
These show up in the list but if you click on them you get an error message

example:

https://discourse.gohugo.io/t/use-content-adapters-to-get-several-images/51724

This one has been answered by bep but still not readable for me.

is this intended? was there any recent change? . maybe the privacy plugin has been activated?

Would be nice if we at least could hide these for the ones that cannot read it.

Hiding such private message is indeed a good idea.
I support this.

What is even the point of asking a question publicly, if it’s then immediately hidden? PMs are meant for private communications, aren’t they?

I have no clue what you talk about, but I till try to look into it … I’m not seeing anything special about the content adapter topic, but then again, I have admin access, so maybe I’m not seeing what you do.

In the list of topics it looks normal:

When I click on it I see:

Exactly like that.

But now something has changed and I can see it as usual.

Next one just now:

Also a new member. First post.

RIght. Also: user accounts seem to be private every now and then. Trying to mute those accounts fails is only possible by adding them manually in settings, not via the button on topics they post on.

There is a connection, because the initial example is one of them

Edit: And: They are not dismissable. I have that new post on my “New” page and it stays there even when I click the Mark all read button.

I just created a Test account with default settings, I did not see any options to set it to private.

I posted: ad posted a topic without selecting anything

I cannot see that message when I click on the link myself neither with the test account, nor with my real one.

I suspect it could be if there’s no category selected - so I created another topic using “support” and voila it is visible:

maybe theres a new setting to “private” topics without Category?
maybe automatically set “support” or “uncategorized” could help ?

first link is “page not found” and second link works. :joy:

Just posted with my normal account without setting a category

Topic is unreadable even for the creator…

So it leads to:

topics without category are not readable by default
