Is it possible to override markdown render hooks by output format?

I convert my headers to links for the web, but would like to just leave them as regular header tags for my RSS (Atom) feed.

I tried adding a second template like this but it didn’t seem to work:

layouts/_default/
├── _markup
│   ├── render-heading.atom.xml
│   └── render-heading.html

Is this possible?

Nevermind! This works. Very rare case of needing to restart the server to see the change!
