I’m so deep into the change to support reading that from the EXIF I’m going to have to stick with this new, if more complicated solution.
Again, I apologize for the hassle.
At some point we’ll be able to read XMP and ITPC image data (as well as EXIF), so the stuff-metadata-into-file approach will offer more value in the future.
No problem at all.
I’ve basically pulled a lot of logic into a partial and used that throughout the site. That partial is the only code that uses the description and splits it into data. As I mentioned, I’m going to stick with using the EXIF now that I have it, but it one be a one-liner to revert the whole site to use Name if I wishes.
Overall it’s a net gain, plus I’ve revisited a lot of code I haven’t touched in years which is never a bad thing because I found some bugs.
